Dr. Miriam Law Smith

About

Dr. Law Smith is a Clinical Psychologist providing strength-based Autism assessment and diagnosis.  She has worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist for the health service in Ireland (HSE), specialising in working with autistic children and adolescents.  Miriam has worked in Autism services in Ireland for over 15 years (including 10 years for the HSE), and she now runs a private practice offering strength-based (neurodiversity-affirmative) Autism assessment and diagnosis for children and adolescents.  For more information on clinical services see here.

Miriam has a background in academic psychology research, prior to training as a clinical psychologist (DClinPsych).  She completed her PhD in evolutionary behavioural science at the University of St. Andrews, and a postdoctoral post at Trinity College Dublin in Autism research.  She has published extensively in the area of evolutionary behavioural science and social cognition, including emotion processing differences in autistic children and adolescents (see Publications).  She now holds an honorary post of Senior Lecturer at the University of Limerick, and also lectures for the Open University.

Dr. Law Smith also provides scientific consultancy to television production companies, including appearances as an on-screen expert (see Media).
